DO YOU KEEP GETTING STUCK IN FIGHT-OR-FLIGHT?

Chronic or traumatic stress reshape your nervous system so that it quickly moves into fight, flight or freeze when you’re under pressure, and takes much longer to return to a stable baseline. This leads to emotional and physiological dysregulation, affecting your moods and emotions, as well as your physical health.

If you’re dysregulated, you might find yourself often feeling panicked and overwhelmed, or alternatively being numb, flat and disconnected. You may also experience relationship struggles - shutting down when you need to speak up, or saying things you don’t mean.

Repair your nervous system for emotional and physical wellbeing.

It is possible to repair your nervous system and discover true freedom and autonomy within your own body, so you can live a life without the extreme ups and downs and feel more at home within yourself.

WHAT IS THE VAGUS NERVE?

The vagus nerve is the superhighway of the mind-body connection: a bundle of nerves which run from the brain all the way to the colon, touching every major organ along the way.

Practices to improve vagus nerve functioning build stress resilience, so that when you face challenges or conflict and become activated, you are able to quickly return to a healthy, balanced baseline. This in turn reduces the stress load on all the other systems of the body.

Learn how to improve the functioning of your vagus nerve.

Link between insomnia, sleep problems and trauma

When we are chronically stressed, we spend much of our time in sympathetic (fight or flight) or dorsal vagal (freeze or shutdown) activation. These are both states that serve us in the short term but are not intended as long-term ways of being. To fall asleep, we need to discharge this activation.

Suppressing anger leads to nervous system dysregulation and somatic symptoms

Suppressing feelings of anger increases nervous system dysregulation and can lead to chronic shut-down, freeze, and even burnout. If you're unable to follow through with that instinct, complete the stress response, and return to baseline, your nervous system remains "tuned" to excess fight energy.

Discover healthier ways to manage the anger response with our free training below.

Your body keeps the score and tells you what trauma needs to be retraced and resolved

The body doesn’t speak words as a way of remembering the past. It communicates with you through tightening, bracing, collapsing, withdrawing, numbing, freezing, and holding. It’s not until you complete the stress activation cycles from the past it leads to true recovery and regulation.
